Smart Wheel
Making the wheel intelligent.

The project:

A long term project at Maxion Wheels has been researching, developing and integrating sensors that measure various dynamics of a wheel. This project would debut in September 2015 as MaxSmart.

As project leader of MaxSmart, I have held responsibility for program management, industrial design, prototyping and technology demonstration.

The MaxSmart sensor system is primarily designed to sense vehicle load (corner weight) via the wheel but can also capture tire pressure, temperature and various acceleration measurements.

Generating the first concept.

Debut of running prototype at 2016 IAA in Hannover Germany

Since creating the measurement concepts and leading the technical development of the wheel sensor, I have had the opportunity to represent it at several events. Here is an interview from the press day during the Hannover Germany IAA.
